Takeda Pharmaceuticals Demolition Project

General Contractor

CRB Builders, LLC

Project Overview

Intracut’s team of estimators, foremen, safety professionals, and laborers was tasked to complete a sensitive project focused on the first and second floor of a commercial building in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Scope of Work

This project was very detailed and included many different services. It was completed on time and in budget with zero accidents or delays.

Demolition

Intracut performed selective demolition and building demolition over a 13,000 sq. ft area without impeding active adjacent research and manufacturing laboratories.

Part of Intracut’s scope was to remove exterior concrete tilt-up panels, portions of the roof and steel structure without impacting the actively occupied building.

Once the interior demolition was complete, Intracut focused on the removal of the steel roof and structure. Crews were able to use boom lifts alongside reach forklifts to remove the roof and structure safely.

For the removal of the concrete tilt-up panels at the building’s perimeter, Intracut employed the services of a crane contractor to assist with lifting the panels away from the building in a coordinated effort.

Concrete Removal

In addition to the tilt-up wall demolition, Intracut was tasked to perform the removal of portions of the building’s perimeter foundation. This was done by utilizing a wall mounted concrete saw to cut through the foundation and separate it from the rest of the building. Once the separation was made, Intracut was able to utilize an excavator to remove the 5’ deep concrete footing.

Concrete Cutting

Over the course of the project, Intracut performed the saw cutting and removal necessary for other subcontractors to install completely new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing utilities. The types of saw cutting included slab cutting, wall sawing, core drilling, and structural slab sawing on the second floor to make multiple concrete wall openings and add new larger foundations.
